Pam Ahrens, Marketing Director for Labs and More, "Partnering with organizations like Fon Jon Pet Care for fundraising events enables Labs and More being able to save many dogs each year."

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fon Jon Pet Care is very pleased to announce a training event for dog owners in the San Diego area. In conjunction with the California Labradors, Retrievers and More Rescue, Fon Jon Pet Care is hosting a Polite Pooch Manners Class. Its aim is to help dogs learn how to stop leash pulling, barking and jumping. Handlers will learn how to control their dogs with treats and simple commands. After the dogs have worked on perfecting their manners, a raffle will give participants an opportunity to win gift certificates, dog beds, dog treats, and other fun items for dogs and their human friends to enjoy! Labs and More will provide lemonade and sandwiches for a donation after the event.

The Polite Pooch Manners Class takes place on Sunday, November 5. It is a 90-minute workshop for dog owners with up to two dogs. All dogs attending must be friendly around other dogs while on a leash. They can be of any age and any breed, but owners must pre-register before all of the spots are filled. The cost for the Polite Pooch Manners Class is $25 per dog for those who are pre-registered. Walk-up registration is $30. Dog owners can register in advance by visiting politepooch.eventbrite.com.

Spectators to this event are welcome and encouraged. Fon Jon Pet Care has a long history of excellent dog training. Any dog owner can learn a great deal simply from observing the class. It is free for spectators to watch and learn. However, donations are welcome. All proceeds for this event will help will help Labs and More continue to rescue dogs in need. The organization has saved nearly 6,900 dogs since its inception six years ago.

Pam Ahrens, Social Media and Marketing Director for Labs and More, said, "Partnering with organizations like Fon Jon for fundraising events like our Polite Pooch Doggie Manners Class plays an important role in Labs and More being able to save the number of dogs we take in each year. The dogs we rescue come from high-kill shelters across southern California and northern Mexico. Many people don't know this, but we lose an average of $100-150 on each dog that we adopt out. The burden of fundraising lies in making up the difference between what people pay us to adopt a dog and our average cost of saving each dog. When you factor in the medical needs, senior, pregnant, and otherwise at-risk dogs that we rescue, the end result is a lot of lives saved! I am honored to be a part of this organization and to help in a small way doing this important and life-saving work."

Dogs learn by reward. Registrants should come prepared with a cup of kibble as well as special treats. Training is even more successful if the dog is not fed prior to the session. Likewise, registrants must keep dogs on leash throughout the entirety of the training session.
