Publisher, Myrna Santos, developed The Modern Nightingale to pay tribute to "our everyday heroes" and share lifestyle information seldom revealed within traditional industry publications. Her choice to feature Tersigni ties to the RN's passion for educating and healing through yoga, and brings a spotlight to her work as the founder of the yoga therapy program for cancer patients at the Raab Oncology Clinic in Morehead City, North Carolina.
The magazine's lifestyle focus draws some fascinating aspects of Tersigni's early days. Tersigni returned to college and graduated with honors as an RN, eventually moving to the east coast, where she would combine her passion for yoga with her medical skills to become the area's only Yoga Nurse .
