Fort Worth Restaurant to be Featured on Food Network

Chef Point Cafe Gets Visit from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Host Guy Fieri

WATAUGA, TX, March 24, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For foodies searching for restaurants with great food and intriguing stories, Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" on the Food Network is must see television. During each episode, Fieri visits several restaurants, interviews the owners and samples specialty dishes.

The fun-loving Fieri is best known as the winner of the Food Network contest to find "The Next Food Network Star" in 2006 and as host of several successful programs on the cable channel. "Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins" reaches a national audience of millions of restaurant enthusiasts.

On January 6, 2009, he and his "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" crew visited Chef Point Cafe in Watauga to shoot a segment that will be aired on Monday, April 6, 2009, at 9 p.m.

"We're thankful to all of our regulars and newsletter subscribers who wrote to the program asking them to feature Chef Point Cafe," said business manager Paula Nwaeze. "It's a great honor and fantastic exposure for our Fort Worth restaurant."

With a motto of "White table cloth dining without the white table cloth," Chef Point Cafe is Dallas-Fort Worth's only gourmet gas station.

When Chef Franson and Paula Nwaeze were looking to borrow to start their restaurant, they found banks were fearful of lending to them because so few new restaurants succeed. Undeterred, the pair took out a loan on a mostly completed Conoco station with a convenience store. By adding a gourmet kitchen and tables in a part of the C-store space, the Nwaezes created 5-star dining in the unlikeliest of places.

"Most people don't expect to find gourmet food at a filling station, so we didn't know what patrons would think when we opened January 1, 2003," stated Mrs. Nwaeze. "Fortunately, so far, people love the idea of exceptionally good food in a unique atmosphere."

"The Chef Point is a true one-of-kind and one of the funkiest places I have been to," said Fieri. "I really enjoyed meeting Chef Franson and Paula and visiting Chef Point Cafe, and I think our viewers will also," said Fieri.

Chef Franson received his culinary training at 5-star restaurants and Country Clubs in Oklahoma. His culinary success has come from his passion for preparing unique and tasty gourmet dishes. His culinary creations have received rave reviews from The Star Telegram. This appearance on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" marks the third time Chef Point has connected with the Food Network. The Nwaezes were previously guests on "Kitchen Sisters" on NPR and profiled recently in the magazine Cooking with Paula Dean.
