CLEARWATER, FL, July 03, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Foundation for a Drug Free World (www.drugfreeworld.org) commemorated June 26th, the United Nation's "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" (http://www.unodc.org) by delivering a drug lecture to over 50 students at a community center in St. Petersburg. The foundation continued their efforts over the weekend distributing 6,500 booklets through out the Tampa Bay including Ybor City, Clearwater Beach, St. Petersburg and Sarasota.

Young volunteers from the Foundation for a Drug Free World stepped up their activities bringing home their anti-drug message in the wake of the untimely death of entertainment icon, Michael Jackson, which is surrounded by allegations of drug overdose and interactions filling the news.

The Foundation for a Drug Free World makes its "Truth About Drugs" series of booklets available to non-profit organizations free of charge. "When people have the facts, they can't be fooled or lied to, and they will make positive decisions for their lives," said Antonella Antonecchia, Social Reform Director for the Church of Scientology of Tampa, which uses the Foundation's materials in their community drug awareness programs. "The 'Truth About Drugs' booklets makes it easy for anyone to be smart about drugs."

Each year, the United Nations commemorates June 26 as "International day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking" and encourages anti-drug organizations and activists around the world to mark the day with activities that raise awareness of the major problem illicit drugs are to society.

The Foundation for a Drug Free World is a secular organization with a cross- section of volunteers and board members ranging from young people to old and from diverse religions including Christian, Muslim, the Jewish faith and the Church of Scientology.
