Fraser Yachts to Showcase Two Outstanding Sailing Yachts at the Antigua Yacht Show

Fraser Yachts are delighted to announce that they will be showcasing the luxury sailing yachts S/Y Phocea and S/Y Marie at this year's Antigua Yacht Show.

ST TROPEZ, FRANCE, December 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fraser Yachts are delighted to announce details of the two luxury sailing yachts that they will be showcasing at this year's Antigua Yacht Show. This year both S/Y Phocea and S/Y Marie will be representing the company's fleet of luxury sailing yachts and will be appearing at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina along with the luxury motor yachts Newvida and Exuma. This year's event will run for six days between the 6th and 11th of December and will be held at three separate locations, the Antigua Yacht Club Marina, Falmouth Harbour Marina and Nelson's Dockyard in the English Harbour, where Fraser will be showcasing the luxury charter yachts M/Y Chosen One and M/Y Kai.

Launched in 1976, Phocea was the world's largest sailing yacht for 28 years until she was usurped by the 90m Athena in 2004. With a length of 75m (246'07") and a beam of 9.58m (31'05") Phocea is every bit as impressive now as she was when she was first launched from the Toulon Naval Dockyard. Originally designed for the single-handed yachtsman Alain Colas, S/Y Phocea competed in the 1976 Observer Single-Handed Transatlantic Race under the name Club Meditaranee. Despite leading the race by 330nm she eventually finished in 5th position following emergency repairs and a time penalty.

Shortly after the race Phocea was retired from racing and began her illustrious career as a luxury charter yacht. Phocea received her last refit in 2006, though her most significant transformation came with her $20 million overhaul in 1996. Described as 'floating palace' Phocea maintains a reputation as one of the finest luxury yachts in the world. She is able to accommodate 12 overnight guests and is serviced by a crew of 15. She is currently available for yacht charter in the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean at a weekly rate of EUR221,000.

Also is available for Caribbean Yacht Charter this winter is S/Y Marie. With a length of 54.86m (180'00") is not quite in the same league as Phocea in terms of size, but is nevertheless an extremely impressive yacht in her own right. Designed by the Dutch naval architects Hoek Design, with David Easton Design collaborating for the interiors, sailing yacht Marie was built by the Vitters Shipyard and was launched earlier this year. Her design combines traditional lines and elements with Anigre, a type of wood not normally used in shipbuilding, to create a light and airy interior.

S/Y Marie is able to accommodate eight overnight guests and is serviced by a crew of an equal number. When anchored, her loading platform is able to double as a swimming platform making her a great choice for sailing enthusiasts who are also keen on diving, while her carbon fibre mast has the strength to support 3,300 m2 of sail, which gives her the ability to reach some pretty impressive speeds. Marie is currently available for Virgin Islands yacht charter and throughout the Caribbean at a rate of $215,000 per week.
