Frederick John Karol, PhD, Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    LAKEWOOD, NJ, October 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Frederick Karol a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Karol celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. In 2000, Dr. Karol retired as a senior corporate fellow from the Union Carbide Corporation in Bound Brook, New Jersey after serving the company for more than 41 years. He previously served the company as a corporate fellow from 1980 to 1984, research associate from 1976 to 1980, and senior research scientist from 1972 to 1976. Furthermore, he began his tenure at the company in a variety of roles, including as a chemist in 1956, project scientist from 1965 to 1967, and research scientist from 1967 to 1972.

Dr. Karol received a PhD in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1962. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society, the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Institute of Chemists.

Dr. Karol is a fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers; he was awarded by the organization with the S.P.E. Conley Award in 1989 and the International Gold Medal in 1990. The American Institute of Chemists honored him with the Pioneer Award in 1988 for his innovative contributions to his field. He holds 120 U.S. Patents and has had multiple articles published in professional journals.

Dr. Karol has received numerous awards and commendations for his contributions to his industry. He was honored with the Thomas Edison Award by the R&D Council of New Jersey in 1982. He also received the Excellence in Catalysis Award by the Metropolitan New York Catalysis Society in 1987. The Society of Chemical Industry commended him with the Perkin Medal in 1989, and he received the American Chemical Society Award for Creative Invention in 1991. In addition, he was named to Plastics Hall of Fame in 1997. Dr. Karol has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the East.

Dr. Karol is also a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country from 1954 to 1956. He is the son of John and Valeria Karol, and was married to the late Ruth Helen Lindbom for 52 years. They have three children together: Mark, Donald, and Cynthia.
