JACKSON, MS, October 31, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In his third medical thriller, award-winning author and practicing physician, Darden North, MD, spins the tale of human reproductive tissue becoming the center of a grisly murder plot. In Fresh Frozen, a couple who have unsuccessfully tried for years to start a family feel incomplete as outcasts in their own community. There is one last hope for them: a catalogue of human embryo and egg donors peddled by a woman whose standards are easily dismissed for the right price.

Pursuing their futile attempts to become parents has nearly cost the wife her life and pushed the couple to the brink of bankruptcy. This last chance effort for Wesley and Carrie Sarbeck to satisfy their place as parents in Middle America unknowingly tosses them in the midst of murder, the world of Hollywood celebrities, and a heist of freshly frozen human embryos.

The lives of the Sarbecks, superstar Allyn Saxton, and Southern socialite Cheryl Choice unwittingly collide at the Van Deman Center, a state-of-the-art clinic for the treatment of infertility.

Carrie, Allyn and Cheryl each have their own reason for entering the Center, where they are subjected to a concoction of hormones and surgical procedures. The gruesome murder of one of these women leads to an intriguing spiral of greed, mental anguish, and medical science.

Throughout the novel's fast-paced suspense and character-rich dialogue, North reveals how medical ethics can easily be discarded as he allows even comical, endearing characters to meet tragedy - tragedy necessary to preserve the dark secrets of the Van Deman Center of Reproductive Technology.

Darden North has written and published three novels, House Call (hardcover 2005, paperback 2007), Points of Origin (hardcover 2006), and Fresh Frozen (hardcover 2008). Points of Origin was recognized in Southern Fiction at the 2007 Independent Publishers Book Awards and House Call was a Mystery/Suspense Finalist in the 2008 New Generation Indie Book Awards. Both works were nominated in Fiction by the Southern Independent Book Association and the Mississippi Institute for Arts and Letters.

North is also a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who practices medicine in Jackson, Mississippi.
