This is the mission of the foundation in the doctors' own words: "Every day thousands of people both children and adults are faced with scars that can affect their well-being. Many of these injuries occur as a result of a trauma, burn, motor vehicle accident or cancer. These external changes may not be life threatening, but their emotional damage can be extremely devastating. These external changes can impact our daily lives, personal interactions, and sometimes or own personal identity. We still live in a society where we are judged by our appearance.
