/24-7PressRelease/ - Irving, TX, May 29, 2008 - In June of 2004, Clovis woke from a dream that told him to start painting. He already knew what the art would look like before ever creating a painting. He bought his paints that day and began an unexpected journey into commercial success and art innovation.
Within 6 weeks of his first painting, he was in a gallery and had sold a painting
for 1900.00. Over the last few years he has discovered several ideas that had
not yet been explored by any other Artist.
The first innovation was in technique. Clovis has mastered what he calls the uninterrupted brush stroke. These are brush Strokes that never end unless they go
off the edge of the canvas, or crash into another Stroke. The paint is actually blended
on the canvas. The stroke is especially obvious in his "Wow Series" of abstract paintings.
The second innovation is "Multifunctionalism". "Multifunctionalism" is where an entire abstract painting is made up of pieces of familiar objects that are arranged in such as way that the viewer thinks they are seeing things that aren't really there. What further defines "multifunctionalism" is that a two dimensional form is so abstract in representation, that the form may play multiple roles (or have multiple functions) at the same time. Sometimes a single item/form can actually have four functions/roles or more.
The third innovation is "Mutualism". Mutualism is where the subject matter shares mutual outlines or boarders with no negative space in between. All the subject forms
fit together like puzzle pieces. Look for more works using this technique in the future. But for now, you can see examples of this innovation in some of his Mermaids and Nude paintings.
Jerry Clovis art is now on display in multiple locations around the country including
Las Vegas, Key West Florida, Palm Springs California, Laguna Beach California, Huntington Beach California, and Beverly Hills California. Jerry Clovis was the
Featured speaker to the Museum Council at the Orange County Museum of Art in
2006. Clovis was signed to Gamut Control Publishing in 2007. His art has been purchased by Galleries, Designers, Consultants, Four Star Resorts, Museums, and
Art Collectors from around the world.
