Since his teenage years, Mr. Tabat has been enthralled with the legal profession. He spent his summers watching trials at a courthouse in Elizabeth, New Jersey, near his residence. These experiences inspired him to pursue an education geared toward law. He first earned a bachelor's degree in history from Rutgers and, afterward, a JD from Duquesne University. Upon graduating, Mr. Tabat chose to focus his profession on family law, where there was a high demand for attorneys.

He has now accrued 46 years of experience in the legal profession, and is the founding partner of Tabat, Cohen, Blum & Yovino, PC. This firm provides legal services in the areas of matrimonial and family law, divorce, mediation, custody, visitation, support and equitable distribution, from simple to complex cases, in the Metropolitan area of New York and Long Island. He is also a past President of the Matrimonial Bar Association of Suffolk County, and he is currently a member of its Board of Directors, as well as being a member of the Board of Directors of Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS).

Mr. Tabat has also been an adjunct professor of Family Law and Advanced Family Law, and he is the author of The Answer Guide for New York Matrimonial Actions, published by Lexis Nexis, which is widely used by New York attorneys as a resource and law schools as a teaching aid.
