Gary L. Powell Honored by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Musical Performance

Gary Powell's acclaimed new performances celebrate aging, youth, wisdom and the continuing struggle with our own humanity

AUSTIN, TX, April 16, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gary L. Powell, Performer and Composer for Powell Studio Productions, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in the recording and theater arts.

"I'm inviting you to explore together the fullness of being human through our deepest connections with each other and through the fine arts. This is simply what I do," states Gary Powell, acclaimed performer and Grammy-nominated composer. Over the course of his impressive 35-year career in the entertainment field, Mr. Powell's productions have sold 45 million albums in 69 countries, all producted in his Texas recording studio. He has also repeatedly proven his skill for music and video production; five of his productions have gone gold and two of them have gone platinum. Furthermore, Mr. Powell has been working as a composer and producer for Joe Scruggs since 1982 and Walt Disney Records since 1989. Considering his track record and long list of awards, it is not suprising that he has trained countless professional singers and performers.

Presently, Mr. Powell's primary focus is performance. He is now producing and performing in a number of original shows and concerts at The Boyd Vance Theater at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center in Austin, Texas. "This new venture will celebrate aging, youth, wisdom and the continuing struggle with our own humanity," he says. One of his most popular shows, entitled "Maybe I'm It, Maybe I'm Not," is a combination of story and song derived from Mr. Powell's 1982 book of the same name. His other current productions include "Aristotle's Prayer," a musical story of an exceptional young girl, and "Composer's Choice," a lighlty scripted and impeccably performed mixture of some of Mr. Powell's favorite songs from all of his shows. Mr. Powell is also producing "Lone Star Voices," a concert of his songs performed by his most talented students, and "Rhapsody of the Soul," a ballet composed by Mr. Powell and performed by the Austin Contemporary Ballet. With even more works in progress, Mr. Powell plans to continue entertaining audiences for a long time to come. "I hope you will come enjoy the shows, but leave encouraged to liberate your inner artist; or whatever else needs liberating," he says.
