Status as an accredited organization means the Raleigh-based GI practice has passed a series of rigorous and nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality healthcare set by the AAAHC. Over 4,600 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are currently accredited by the AAAHC.
The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, or the Accreditation Association, is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979. It is the preeminent leader in developing standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education and research. Accreditation is a voluntary process through which an organization is able to measure the quality of its services and performance against nationally recognized standards. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization, as well as a thorough review by the Accreditation Association's surveyors, who themselves have extensive experience in the ambulatory health care environment.
