Jan Davis Calls Gay Community "Wrong-Way?

/24-7PressRelease/ - PALM SPRINGS, CA, August 21, 2006 - Since the article headlined "Wrong-way Guitarist Crash Lands on Internet" was released, many gay sites and other press quickly published it. Judging from the current emails received in response to the article, gay readers are assuming Jan Davis is tagging the entire gay community as "Wrong-way."

Apparently, those readers didn't see the follow-up interview, published in July, 2006:
"Is Gay Community in Uproar over Jan Davis Guitar?"

When Davis learned about the gay reaction to the term: "Wrong-way," he was clearly shocked and amazed.

"Why would I say such a stupid thing?" Davis retorted, "After all, I'm the one who's being tagged "Wrong-way," because of the way I tune my guitar!"

So what's going on here? Is it possible people enjoy assuming the worst in others to the point of starting a scandal over two little words that really are not significant to the original issue? This appears to be the case.

The Davis interview was published to clear up any misunderstanding, but it may not have been seen by many of the gay readers who are complaining about being regarded as "Wrong-way."

When Davis was asked about his take on this assumption, he immediately replied, "This is absolutely not true, in fact, it's ridiculous! The whole issue is getting out of control and I'm extremely upset about it!"

To clarify, Davis added, "The confusion started from an innocent article on the Internet and print media, followed by an interview where I explained other musicians, both gay and straight, have called me "Wrong-way Jan" most of my life, even to the point of calling me "Janet" and "Janeen." But like I stated in the interview, it's all in fun."

A section of the past interview had to do with the "wrong-way" Davis tunes his guitar. In response to any further question regarding the tuning issue, Davis wants his fans to know he recently completed a music video clip entitled: "Gypsy From Andalusia," now being shown on various websites, including the popular artist site: http://www.youtube.com, where those who wish to see and hear just how he plays the guitar, can watch the Davis fingering methods and judge for themselves.
