As the owner and managing attorney of Gerling Law, Ms. Pettinga demonstrates professionalism and expertise in the legal field. She established her career in 1987 as an attorney for Faegre, Baker & Daniels in Indianapolis, IN, where she laid the foundation for more than 30 years of excellence in her field. Thereafter, Ms. Pettinga came to prominence in her role as an attorney for Eli Lilly and Company, which gave her the experience and confidence necessary to buy and operate her own firm. Today, Gerling Law is highly regarded in the tri-state region for providing top of the line services in matters of personal injury, medical malpractice and social security disability litigation.
For her leadership and spirit of giving back to her industry, Ms. Pettinga has received national recognition among her peers. Every year since 2007, she has been named among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association. She is an AV peer-review rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, and she was named among the Ten Best Attorneys for Indiana by the American Institute of Personal Injury Lawyers. Before establishing herself professionally, Ms. Pettinga attended Smith College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in 1984. Thereafter she pursued and achieved a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. Upon graduating in 1987 and passing the Bar, she was admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana and later admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Today, Ms. Pettinga remains at the top of her field through her affiliation with various industry organizations. She is a board member for the Indiana Trial Lawyer Association. In addition, Ms. Pettinga has been involved with initiatives with the American Association for Justice, the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Evansville Bar Association, the National Trial Lawyers Association, the American Law Society and the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys.
