LONDON, UK, May 22, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- gaypedia has launched its Pride 2009 list and integrated Twitter to keep Pride enthusiasts up-to-date and help share experiences.
As the numbers of Pride celebrations worldwide multiply with every passing year, gaypedia has sourced the best and provided details to help gay people travel with confidence. The expanded list of gay pride events is supported by the website's integration of Twitter to ensure members are kept up-to-date with the whereabouts and activities of members and the gaypedia team.
In the last six months gaypedia has visited and updated information on Munich, Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, Andorra, Bournemouth, Manchester and Athens bringing people on board to keep information alive in these cities. During the summer months gaypedia will continue to develop the expansive details across the website providing a one-stop-travel encyclopaedia for the gay community.
gaypedia is also encouraging businesses, travel agencies, bars and clubs to add details of events, special offers and local information to its website to keep the community informed and help travellers track down the most interesting activities.
Pride reports will be coming from across the globe with gaypedia awarding the best Pride write-up with a trip to a local theme park for four at the end of the season. Reports should be submitted by 15 September 2009 to be included in the competition. Members can create their report as a destination overview, a blog, video, audio recording or even a photo album for that event on gaypedia.
gaypedia has set up a dedicated Pride Page linking to specific areas of the site to give visitors more information on local events and encourage them to add more detail.
"There's so much information out there that one single publication cannot possibly cover the global gay community - however we have built the tools to provide this information online and believe that this will help gay and lesbian people worldwide access their own community," said Ryan Haynes, Communications Director for gaypedia. "We have sourced some of the best and small known Pride celebrations among hundreds of other gay events occurring throughout the globe. We hope that those enthusiastic about the gay scene will help by submitting details on events or venues missing from our growing encyclopaedia."
