/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, February 08, 2007 - George W. Bush passes the bully-test with top grades, say Joanne and Arrica Scaglione, authors of the newly released parenting book, "Bully-Proofing Children" (Rowman and Littlefield Publishers- 2006). Along with Simon Cowell, the authors name Bush one of the two worst role-models for American children.

If bully behavior is aggressive behavior that is deliberate and hurtful toward others and repeated over time (from "Bully-Proofing Children"), Bush's invasion of Iraq for the past four years and now his proposed escalation of the violence (despite what his own appointed study committee recommends; his experts advise and the majority of the American public want) lands him an A+ grade as a bully, states the Scaglione's. His attempts to justify his behavior with lies about weapons of mass destruction and terrorism will not label his acts as acts of self-defense. Alongside Bush, the authors contend that Simon Cowell is also guilty. The difference is Simon targets the psyches, while Bush takes the physical lives of his victims.

Is it no wonder that bullying in our schools is approaching epidemic proportions? The most recent violence by high school students in New York and California is only a reminder that little has changed since the days of Columbine (1999) and that this behavior is ever-increasing. If we care about our future, it's time that we teach our children by example to be kind, tolerant and respectful individuals. Children learn early on how to behave by not only watching their parents, but also television, celebrities, and our leaders. They will imitate and copy these behaviors whether we want them to or not. We must say no to Bush's and Cowell's actions just as passionately as we reacted to Janet Jackson exposing a breast on television so that children understand that there is no excuse for any kind of bully behavior.

Isn't it time that our celebrities and leaders look at the impact of their actions on our children and take some responsibility to engage in behaviors that promote peace, kindness and respect? Isn't it time that "Zero tolerance for bullying everywhere and anywhere be our mantra" [excerpted from "Bully-Proofing Children"] ...at least for the sake of our children and our future.
