Get Active With A Home Made Ice Rink Built From Tarpaflex

There is one way to make winter exercise fun thanks to the do-it-yourself ice rink built from special ice rink tarps, made by tarps experts, Tarpaflex.

NAPLES, FL, November 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Despite best efforts and good intentions, it can be difficult to fit in the prescribed levels of physical exercise during the cold, dark winter months. Battling snow, rain, biting cold and winds to work out holds little appeal while bike rides and jogging promise only chilblains, chapped lips, cold hands and a thorough dousing. However, there is one way to make winter exercise fun thanks to the do-it-yourself ice rink built from special ice rink tarps, made by experts, Tarpaflex.

Ice skating is not only great exercise it's also good fun and, if you build your own rink using a Tarpaflex tarp, you can enjoy the benefits all winter long at a fraction of the cost of using your town's arena.

Widely used in backyard rinks and even in commercial rinks, ice rink tarps by Tarpaflex are lightweight, easy to handle, rot proof, shrink proof, UV protected and flexible to Arctic temperatures - so no matter how cold it gets, you can be sure your ice rink will remain frozen and safe for the duration.

It takes around two days to build a home ice rink using a heavy duty tarp so is a perfect weekend task. The temperature will need to be 30 degrees or less to allow the water to freeze. To begin, clear the area in which you want the rink to stand, removing items such as rocks that could puncture the base of the rink. Square and oval shapes are easiest to work to although there is no limit to the shape of rink that you build, save for space constraints.

Enough PVC pipe of at least two inches in height plus pipe and joints are needed. By far the most important tool is to invest in a good quality, strong, durable poly tarps to act as the liner - the specialist ice rink tarps from Tarpaflex are made for just this purpose. Having laid the tarp down to act as the base, simply work around the area, piecing the pipes together in the desired shape. Cut away excess tarp, leaving approximately one inch around the rink spare to allow for the sealing process. As soon as the perimeter is sealed with heavy duty winter sealant, you can flood the area using a standard garden hose and wait for the water to freeze.

Tarpaflex stocks one of the widest ranges of ice rink liner tarps on the web. They are available in a variety of sizes to suit yards large and small. Find out more, browse the range and order online at www.tarpaflex.com
