Ginger H. Robinson to be Featured in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts"

Ginger H. Robinson honored for her service to humanity through Face the Challenge, Inc.

CENTENNIAL, CO, October 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ --Ginger H. Robinson, BSN, RN, President of Face the Challenge, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in humanitarian outreach.

Ginger H. Robinson, BSN, RN is the president of Face the Challenge, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides medical care to needy children and adults around the world. She, alongside her husband, Randolph C. Robinson, MD, DDS, co-founded the organization in 1993, emphasizing facial surgeries as its primary service when naming it "Face the Challenge." In the past 16 years, they have completed no less than 1,051 surgeries in Vietnam, China, Bolivia and the United States. Ms. Robinson's humanitarian outreach efforts began in 1991, culminating in her role as executive director of FTC from March 1994 to February 2003 and then president from February 2003 to the present. She manages the organization by coordinating teams and supplies, preparing them for international travel, and offering her skills as a liaison and nurse while abroad.

The most gratifying aspect of Ms. Robinson's career is seeing more patients receive free facial surgeries by American doctors and nurses, along with host surgeons and anesthesiologists, who are achieving higher levels of competency to treat their own people. She incorporates international and trans-cultural experience with her strong passion and desire to see somebody healed. "If you can't heal somebody, at least you can give them comfort," she says. "If you can heal somebody, maybe you can teach them something...that would enable them to help somebody else in turn."

From April 1st to the 12th of 2009, FTC sent their 23rd international team to complete their 19th Vietnamese medical mission. The organization's next trip, which will be its 20th Vietnamese trip and its 24th trip abroad, to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is scheduled for April 7th to the 18th, 2010. While they continue to treat the youngest, most indigent and most deformed, it is a continuous uphill battle. "We recognize what their needs are and try to meet them coming back the next year," she explains. A substantial part of their success has to do with their building bonds of friendship and trust with a government that is not like ours in the United States. "To this point, we never take [our relationship] for granted," she elaborates. "We try to honor and respect the limits that they set and work within their parameters the best that we can." In these past 16 years, fortunately, they have been able to work with the same hosts, who continue to prove their reliability.

Ms. Robinson received a bachelor of science in nursing in 1981 from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing, where she was named Outstanding Senior. She was certified in critical care nursing from 1984 to 1990; a certified basic life support instructor from 1983 to 1987; and a registered nurse since 1981. In April of 2009, Ms. Robinson was the recipient of the Humanitarian award from her alma mater, the Sinclair School of Nursing. This year, she will be featured in "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts," a book that features a very select few group of individuals who have demonstrated excellence and integrity in their chosen fields of practice.
