Customer acquisition specialists and experts in dealing with people, Global Events & Marketing recently hosted an inspirational seminar on the power of smiling.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, September 16, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a study conducted in the UK, British researchers found that one smile can provide the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2000 chocolate bars.

Smiling is incredibly infectious. A smiling person comes across as warm and friendly which is extremely important in business. Smiling is related to happiness. Happy people smile more and overall tend to achieve better results. Sydney-based Global Events & Marketing's Managing Director Alex Scowcroft is a firm believer in the power of smiling and this past week she used this as inspiration to host a seminar on the subject.

As a firm whose representatives' deal with customers on a face-to-face basis every day, smiling is important. During the seminar Alex Scowcroft referred to studies that have been conducted. Research has showed that more than 30% of people smile more than 20 times a day, and less than 14% of people smile less than 5 times a day. Incredibly, children smile more than 400 times a day. Uppsala University in Sweden conducted two studies in 2002 and 2011 which confirmed that other people's smiles suppress the control we have over our own facial muscles, which compels us to smile. The research also found that it's very difficult to frown when looking at someone who smiles. Famous theologian Charles Darwin developed the Facial Feedback Response Theory, which suggests that smiling can actually makes someone feel better. His research has been supported by Echnische Universitat in Munich Germany. In 2009 scientists used fFMRI (Functional MRI) imaging to measure brain activity in regions of emotional processing in the brain before and after injecting Botox to suppress smiling muscles. The results were that smiling modifies the neural processing of emotional content in the brain, and the conclusion of the study was that the brain's circuitry of emotion and happiness is activated when someone smiles.

In a study conducted in the UK, British researchers found that one smile can provide the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2000 chocolate bars and that smiling can be as stimulating as receiving up to 16,000 Pounds in cash. Smiling has also been known to have many therapeutic effects including reduced stress hormone levels, increased health and mood enhancing hormone levels, and lowered blood pressure.

"The best part about smiling is it's free! It is an incredibly powerful tool that can have many wonderful effects," said Managing Director at Global Events & Marketing, Alex Scowcroft.

The firm regularly hosts seminars and workshops to help motivate and inspire the people they work with, in turn helping to drive the business forward.
