NORTH VANCOUVER, BC, January 28, 2012
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Following the tremendous success of the fully booked, first and second Vancouver Grease Summits, and the 2011 Grease Summit in Bellevue Washington, Vancouver's third Grease Summit will take place on February 16th, 2012 at the Executive Hotel and Conference Centre in Burnaby, BC (Vancouver Lower Mainland).
Fats Oils and Grease (FOG) are typically responsible for some 60% of a city's sewer maintenance costs. Millions of dollars are spent every year in the in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley alone, dealing with FOG and FOG related issues. Clogged drains, sewer backups, equipment burnouts, storm drain contamination, screen blockage at waste water treatment plants and damage to the sewerage system are just some of the consequences of poor FOG management. Generated by restaurants, food processors, industry, government facilities and residential homes, cities and municipalities across the world struggle with the impact of FOG on municipal sewerage and waste water treatment infrastructure as well as on the environment and on public health. Yet compliance from commercial, industrial and residential producers remains a challenge, even where FOG bylaws are in place.
The Grease Summit is an internationally accredited seminar with the participation of guest speakers, developed to educate attendees about the current issues around fats, oils and grease (FOG), the latest pretreatment methodology and technology, environmental issues and consequences and current regulations pertaining to FOG in drains, sewers, waste water treatment facilities and land fill sites.
The summit also serves as a forum for a broad range of stakeholders to participate and discuss issues and perspectives. Typical attendees include environmental organizations, municipal operations management, waste water management, government, health care, bylaw officers, food service operators, meat, fish and poultry processors and more. This is an all day event and breakfast, lunch and refreshments are included. Attendance is limited to 40 to ensure open and effective interaction and discussion. Anyone involved in waste water management, facilities maintenance, bylaw enforcement or public health should attend this event.
