Web sessions are also very efficient for GP users training. In this small publication we would like to give you additional highlights on GP support options and technology

1. GP initial software licenses sale and implementation. Here you probably want consultants to show up onsite and do the job in your office. If you think that local market in underserved, nationwide GP implementation firms should be happy to send out consultants to you for intensive onsite implementation. Software licenses you typically purchase from the same folks who will do the implementation, as it is additional incentive for them

2. GP following support. Here you can decide to optimize your support cost and switch over to remote support GP consultants and developers. We recommend you to get reasonable training for your IT department: SQL DBA and basic GP support skills

3. GP version upgrade. It is probably not required to have consultant locally for upgrade, however if you are large manufacturing mill or large public company, you should consider your servicing consultant to show up in your place for several days, when you are going in production with just upgraded version to secure uninterrupted operations

4. GP integrations. If you have a need in EDI, ongoing integration with your eCommerce or legacy application, please review Great Plains Integration Manager

5. GP current version. At this time it is GP 10.0. Version update is possible from all the former versions: 9.0, 8.0, 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, 4.0, as well as migration to GP from Great Plains Accounting for DOS and Windows. If you are on non MS SQL Server platform, such as Pervasive SQL / Btrieve or Ctree - you should consider migration to Microsoft SQL Server. Migration tools is available for GP version 7.5. In fact this was the last version, supporting Pervasive and Ctree
