/24-7PressRelease/ -- In commemoration of the Kingdom's Independence Day and the 10th anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah II Accession to the Throne, the Greater Amman Municipality recently organized a large national festival at King Abdullah II Gardens Project in Al-Muqabileen.
The Municipality will also inaugurate several developmental and services projects in different regions of Amman, along with 12 IT centers, and public libraries.
Head of GAM's Celebrations Committee and Mayor of Amman's Advisor for Regions Affairs, Mahmoud Al-Armouti said that the Municipality, in line with the Mayor's directives, has completed its preparations for the festival and the inaugurations in Amman. He noted that these events aim at enhancing the values of Independence, the notion and accomplishments as perceived by Jordanians. The celebrations also help in recalling the times of giving and goodwill in the past 10-year march, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
The festival was held under the patronage of H.E. Prime Minister Nader Al-Dahabi, and attended by senior officials from the public and private sectors, as well as members of the local community.
A number of speeches and poems were recited in the event, along with the performing of national songs and folkloric pieces.
Al-Armouti indicated that GAM's festival includes a parade of roses, featuring the participation of GAM departments, regions and public groups. The parade kicks off at King Hussein Gardens, riding through the streets of King Abdullah II, Mecca Al-Mukarramah and Al-Sha'ab, in the direction of the 8th Circle. The parade continues through to the 4th Circle, Amman's Hanging Bridge, and Al-Sakhra Al-Musharafa Street where it will be joined with a group of horse and camel riders, as well as members of the Armed Forces and the Public Security musical bands, heading towards the festival's location.
Al-Armouti urged the citizens to join the Greater Amman Municipality's celebrations, by expressing their fondness and pride to Jordan and its history, as well as showing their loyalty and allegiance to the Hashemite leadership.
In the same context, GAM will launch fireworks from the festival's two venues in Al-Muqabileen and Jabal Al-Qal'a (Castle Mount). The Municipality will also organize same celebrations at each of Amman's 27 regions.
Al-Armouti indicated that the celebrations coincide with the Municipality's 100th centennial, and include a special program starting Tuesday, June 2, lasting until mid-June.
Many projects will be inaugurated, along with laying down the foundation stones for new developmental and services projects, in proportion to the Royal directives, to enhance the quality of municipal services for the citizens.
