CHICAGO, IL, March 27, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chicago's nationally renowned Green City Market will host top chefs from around the country when it opens its 17th season Saturday, May 2. Green City Market, located in Lincoln Park between Clark and Stockton Drive (approximately 1817 N. Tastings of Abby's Crepes and Jared Batson's Nomad Food Co.'s wood fired, pizza can be enjoyed as the chefs browse and shop the market's fresh and fabulous ingredients.

"It is quite an honor for the Beard Awards to be taking place in Chicago," said Stegner. "As this is the first time the Awards are being held outside of New York City, it clearly indicates that Chicago is recognized as a world-class culinary center. Green City Market is considered one of the top green markets in the United States, and we think it is an especially appropriate place to honor the occasion. We know that our guest chefs and our many shoppers will have a great time on May 2. We hope everyone will come out to meet these talented and inspiring chefs."

The James Beard Foundation Awards recognizes those who do outstanding work in all aspects of the food industry: chefs and restaurateurs, cookbook authors and food journalists, restaurant designers and architects, and more. This is the 25th anniversary of the James Beard Awards, and for the first time ever the Awards ceremony and gala reception will take place in the city of Chicago.
