Investments in Technology, New Leadership, and Curriculum Improvements at The Academy Deliver Advanced Instruction that is Second-to-None in the Region

"It was very important to us that Grey Nun Academy establish a positive, direct relationship with Holy Redeemer, so we are very pleased with the outcome, and greatly value their continued support."

YARDLEY, PA, September 27, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Grey Nun Academy is pleased to announce that its executive board has officially entered into a 10-year lease with Holy Redeemer Health System (HRHS).

Under terms of the new lease agreement, The Academy will rent the property for a nominal cost of $10 per year for 10 years, while continuing to maintain operating expenses and repairs to the facility. The new lease went into effect September 13, 2016.

"The Executive Committee of The Academy's Board has worked for many months on a new lease with Holy Redeemer Health System," said Mike Hagan, Board of Trustees Chair at Grey Nun Academy. "It was very important to us that The Academy establish a positive, direct relationship with Holy Redeemer, so we are very pleased with the outcome, and greatly value their continued support."

"Holy Redeemer is an ardent supporter of Catholic education. We admire the Grey Nun Academy mission that leads children to promote peace and social justice in our world, and teaches students to accept their responsibility to those in need as contributing members of their own communities," said Mike Laign, CEO, Holy Redeemer Health System. "For these reasons and many more, we have a strong interest in seeing The Academy thrive in its current location for many years to come."

An Enduring Commitment to Academic Excellence and Social Responsibility
As the only independent, Catholic, coeducational, elementary school in Bucks County for students in PreK3 through eighth grades, the school has made significant investments in technology as a vehicle to inspire, instruct, and maximize the learning capacity of all students throughout their tenure at the school.

"We are proud of the advancements we've made in technology, after school enrichment programs, and throughout the curriculum in each division - all while remaining true to our core values, and sustaining a combined learning environment that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit," said Deborah Kost, Head of School, Grey Nun Academy. "We are so pleased to know that Holy Redeemer understands the benefits of a Grey Nun Academy education and is fully supportive of our mission and vision for the future of our school."

Embracing its commitment to academic excellence for more than 50 years, Grey Nun Academy is unique in that it blends the best of what is traditional with the best of what is current. It thrives within the tension of these opposites to create a distinctive environment that creates lifelong learners. The Academy's strong academic program is flexible by design. The average class size offers a student-teacher ratio of 7:1. This allows for greater depth and breadth in curriculum design and course offerings.

"The Grey Nuns remain as strongly committed as ever. It is of paramount importance to us to ensure The Academy will carry on our legacy of creating a more compassionate world by integrating learning with faith and action, while nurturing and encouraging the unique gifts found in each child. Our Sisters continue to have a strong presence within the school, and I am so pleased that Grey Nun Academy is in a strong position to thrive for decades to come," added Sister Julia Lanigan, President of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart.

Kost added: "Parents are choosing to send their children to The Academy because they recognize the need to prepare them for lifelong learning in a changing world, and success in high school, college, and beyond. Our students are leading with Terra Nova scores that well exceed that of any area independent or parochial school. We are incredibly proud of every student at The Academy, and committed to continue delivering excellence in elementary education."
