YARDLEY, PA, February 21, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Grey Nun Academy (GNA), the preeminent private, independent Catholic elementary school in Bucks County, PA celebrated its third grade class this week as student groups showcased "The Great Biomes of the World." As part of the school's emphasis on the importance of STEM learning at all ages, featured presentations included: Deserts, Wetlands, Grasslands, Forests, Tropical Rain Forests, and Tundras.

This project-based learning experience comes at the conclusion of a month-long, co-curricular unit of study which included life sciences, reading, writing, poetry, spirituality, development of speaking and listening skills, and technology.

"The varied components of the project allowed students to team up with peers to choose a research topic, and encouraged them to use their unique gifts and talents in creative ways," said Alison Montemarano, third grade teacher at GNA. "It was a great way to get children involved with the project and collaborating to achieve a common goal."

Students worked with each other in small cooperative groups to research information about their Biomes, and created elaborate displays to showcase their understanding of the project. The children dressed as plants and animals representative of the Biomes, recited poems, and sang songs.
