Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund Hosts Fifth Annual Hall of Fame Dinner in Detroit Area, May 17, 2013

Detroit Lions sponsors dinner to honor players for their on and off the field accomplishments.



    CHICAGO, IL, May 07, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund will hold its fifth annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan on Friday, May 17, 2013. This event will honor players for their outstanding NFL playing careers as well as for their charitable contributions.

This evening will be a celebration of the fabulous careers on the field and the outstanding work these men have done off the field. This year's honorees are: Dean Look, Greg Landry, Grady Alderman, Chris Spielman, Roger Zatkoff, Joe Greene, Jim Marshall, Rick Volk, George Perles, George Reed and Hugh Campbell.

We will present Kevin Turner, former Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots fullback with the Gridiron Greats Man of the Year Award. Kevin was diagnosed with ALS back in 2010 and he has made it his personal mission to bring attention to ALS and the need for a cure as well as raise awareness about the seriousness of brain trauma in athletes at every level of competition. Gridiron Greats has partnered with The Kevin Turner Foundation on various initiatives to assist former players and their families.

We will be honoring Detroit Lions Linebacker, Stephen Tulloch, who is the unsung hero of the 2012 Detroit Lions and receiving the Ron Kramer Award.

We also will be giving an award in honor of Tim Pendell, retired Director of Community Affairs for the Detroit Lions, to former Lion Ken Dallafior and Dan Jaroshewich for their work with the Detroit Lions Courage House which helps abused children.

Mike Ditka, Chairman of the Gridiron Greats says, "This is a great way for us to honor deserving individuals not just because they were great players but because they have given so much back to the community".

Mark Champion, former voice of the Detroit Lions will once again emcee the dinner.

Tickets for the dinner cost $125 per person or $1,100 per table of ten. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund.

Over 60 players will be present at the dinner and over 20 players available for an autograph session, which will take place between 10am and 4pm at the Suburban Collection Showplace on Saturday May 18th. Please go to www.detroitcitysports.com for players' times and autograph pricing.

The GGAF's mission is to assist dire need retired NFL players who were pioneers of the game and who have greatly contributed to the NFL's status as the most popular sport in America.
