H. Barnes Recognized by Marquis Who's Who as an Extraordinary Author & Educator

Mr. Barnes was inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame



    LAS VEGAS, NV, March 24, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- H. Barnes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A revered author and educator, Mr. Barnes currently serves as a professor of English at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), a position he has held for more than 20 years. In the past, he has worked as a deputy sheriff in the Clark County Sheriff's Office and served as an agent for the Nevada Division of Narcotics. Moreover, Mr. Barnes has held positions with Maxim Hotel & Casino and Sands Casino. He is also a veteran of the 5th Special Forces Group, serving during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Barnes is the author of various creative works, such as "Gunning for Ho," "Minimal Damage," "The Lucky," "Dummy Up and Deal," "Talk To Me, James Dean," "When We Walked Above the Clouds," "Car Tag," "Cold Deck" and "The Gambler's Apprentice." He was also the assistant editor of the Red Rock Review, and he contributed several of his short stories to literary publications. His written work has earned him several awards, including the Excellence in Arts Award on behalf of the Vietnam Veterans of America, an honorable mention in fiction from the Society of Southwestern Authors, and induction into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame.

In 1989, Mr. Barnes prepared for his field by receiving a Bachelor of Arts, with high distinction, from the University Nevada, Las Vegas. He then earned a Master of Fine Arts from Arizona State University three years later. Because Mr. Barnes has truly excelled in his work, he has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World. He is also a member of AWP to learn about changes in his field, and he maintains memberships with American Mensa, Ltd. and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. In the past, he has participated as a fiction writing mentor for WRITERS @ WORK. In his free time, Mr. Barnes enjoys tennis, taekwondo, photography and motorcycle touring.
