KANSAS CITY, MO, March 08, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- The choir will headline an evening of music, food and fun at the Gem Theater May 8 benefiting the Front Porch Alliance (FPA).
"Now more than ever as we face this severe economic downturn, our non-profit organization has been hurt financially and is in dire need of funds to keep our doors open to the Ivanhoe Neighborhood," said Chris Smart, Front Porch Alliance president.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the FPA is a non-profit partnership in the urban center of Kansas City; its mission is to create partnerships to improve lives, build relationships and revitalize neighborhoods within Ivanhoe and surrounding communities.
"Front Porch Alliance helps build relationships with the Ivanhoe Community to give hope," he said. "For many, our services are what keep them going physically on a daily basis. Front Porch is their hands-on link to improving their lives."
Programs administered by FPA include career mentoring, life skills and financial literacy training, elementary student tutoring, home repair, youth activities, neighborhood cleanups, food pantry and other basic daily needs.
"This event featuring the Harlem Gospel Choir is a major fundraiser for Front Porch, and we're counting on our friends in the Kansas City community to help us raise the funds we need to continue our mission of service," said Patsy Shawver, executive director.
"Ticket sales are important, and we want the community to join us for the marvelous night of music and fun May 8; but the real heart of the fundraising are the sponsorships," she said. "We're looking for sponsors at every funding level as well as auction item donations."
The special evening is set for May 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the historic Gem Theater. Besides the music of the Harlem Gospel Choir, there will be a live auction, food and fun activities. All proceeds benefit Front Porch's youth programs, which strengthen youths' academic achievement, provides entrepreneurial education, enhances leadership skills and helps secure a future full of hope and opportunity.
Sponsorship levels for every budget are available. Most sponsors will be recognized on invitations and the program, get tickets to the show, cocktail buffet and valet parking passes. Other recognition benefits are available. For more information about the event and sponsorships, contact Shawver at 816-921-8812.
