LENOIR CITY, TN, September 19, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Harvey L. Sproul a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Harvey Sproul celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Supported by more than 50 years as an industry professional, Mr. Sproul started in the field back in the early 1960s as an associate with Dannel & Fowler. From there, the firm became Dannel & Sproul, where he remained for three years before starting his own firm. That initial entrepreneurship developed into more firms that bore his name, including Sproul & Russell, Sproul & Bailey, Sproul & Harvey, and Sproul & Hinton, which was in operation for 27 years. He was elected as judge and county mayor for the county of Loudon, Tennessee, which most significantly opened the door to many additional honors and activities, in addition to aiding his general law practice.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mr. Sproul holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a JD. His election in the small conservative county of Loudon, consisting of 25,000 people then and 50,000 now, was significant in that no Democrat had been elected to a county-wide office in 40 years. As an active-duty U.S. Army Judge Advocate General officer, Mr. Sproul joined a well-known Republican firm and later ran for, and won, office as a Democrat. Mr. Sproul remarks that his Kentucky grandparents would have run him out of town on a railroad tie if he had turned Republican. As judge and county mayor, Mr. Sproul began modernizing the county in planning, law enforcement, and retirement systems. He was the founding chair of the East Tennessee Development District composed of fifty-six cities in sixteen counties. Later, Mr. Sproul served as a county attorney for 24 years, and remained involved in public matters and civic leadership up to the present day. Through the years he was instrumental in organizing the Lenoir City and Loudon County Committees of 100, the Loudon County Economic Development Agency, the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce, the Loudon County Visitors Bureau, , the Tellico Area Services System, and the Loudon County Planning Commission, all of which are in operation today.
Mr. Sproul is professionally affiliated with the Loudon County, Tennessee and American Bar Associations, and in the past with the Tennessee Council of School Board Attorneys, the Tennessee County Judges Association, and the Tennessee County Attorneys Association. During his spare time, he enjoys giving back to his community through the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce and Rotary, the Tellico Planning Council, and the East Tennessee Development District, as well as the Loudon County Education Foundation, where he still holds a seat on the board of directors. Additionally, Mr. Sproul has lent his expertise to the Lenoir City Board of Education, the Mid-East CCA, and as staff judge advocate with the 125th ARCOM.
Throughout his lengthy career, Mr. Sproul has earned numerous awards for his work in the field. In addition to earning the Robert E. Gonia East Tennessee Regional Leadership Award in 2002, Mr. Sproul has been featured in publications such as Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in American Law.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Harvey Sproul has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com
