Cross country skiing is a real favourite among Headwater walkers. It's easy to learn, involves no special clothing and you don't need to be super-fit to give it a go! NEW for winter 2009/10, we are offering cross country skiing holidays in Trins, Austria, in Akaslompolo, Finland and in Rondablikk, Norway. As always, the hotels we use are all different in style, and range from great value mountain inns to gastronomic **** hotels with state-of-the-art wellness centres exuding luxury at every turn.
We are also offering specific snowshoeing holidays for the first time this winter. Snowshoeing is all about making your own tracks through deep, soft, unbroken snow and exploring otherwise inaccessible areas, with the aid of a pair of wide-footed, lightweight snowshoes. As well as being great fun, snowshoeing is also the perfect way to explore an idyllic winter landscape, meandering through pristine pine-scented forest and climbing snowy peaks to reach unspoilt views, without needing the technical skills of an off-piste skier!
For winter 2009/10 we have dedicated snow shoeing holidays in
Villabassa and
Rondablikk with a one-day snowshoe excursion included in our
