/24-7PressRelease/ - SAN ANTONIO, TX, September 12, 2008 - The onset of Hurricane Ike and its impending threat to the Gulf Coast, including the heavy winds and rains that are expected to affect over 80 counties (including Bexar), have forced the postponement of two major local fitness events. BOOT CAMP: THE FITNESS CHALLENGE and an H-E-B HEALTH AND FITNESS FAIR - both sponsored by H-E-B and All Sports Speed and Conditioning - were scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 13 and benefit BAY BAY'S KIDS & ALL SPORTS FOUNDATION; Drill Sgt. Harvey Walden, IV [Ret.], star of VH-1's hit reality series "Celebrity Fit Club", was also scheduled to appear at the events.
"At first we were thinking, 'Oh, it's Texas, give it five minutes and it'll change. Besides, a little rain and mud will make the Boot Camp much more of a challenge for the participants', but once the Governor issued a disaster declaration with Bexar County on the list, we knew we had better get on the phone and start making calls," stated a disappointed Bremond "Bay Bay" McClinton (aka "The Punisher"). He added with a smile, "To all Harvey's fans out there, and to everyone who has supported this event and my foundation, thank you so much. And rest assured, the show will go on, but definitely at a later and much drier date!"
McClinton, a former professional football player turned fitness trainer (for such athletes as retired NFL star Priest Holmes and the San Antonio Spurs) is the founder of BAY BAY'S KIDS & ALL SPORTS FOUNDATION, an organization dedicated to improving the health and fitness of young people and their families, by providing sports camps and clinics (with scholarships for area youth); refurbishing and providing athletic equipment for area middle and high schools; providing funding for college scholarships for inner-city students; and providing nutrition and weight-loss programs for both children and their parents.
