Healthcare Heroes Awarded in Mid-State
Nine individuals and organizations in Central PA won awards at the 2008 Healthcare Heroes awards program.

    /24-7PressRelease/ - HARRISBURG, PA, April 06, 2008 - Central Penn Parent magazine and Madden Physical Therapy congratulate the finalists and award recipients of the 2008 Healthcare Heroes awards, held on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.

Two hundred people gathered together on Monday morning to honor the 50 finalists of this year's program for their significant impact on the quality of healthcare in Central Pennsylvania. Awards were given in nine categories, and the award recipients in their respective categories are listed below.

Benn Law Firm and volunteer with Holy Spirit Health System

Finalists and award recipients will be highlighted in the May 2008 edition of Central Penn Parent magazine, and WPMT TV FOX43 will highlight the award recipients during their News at 10 segments on Sunday nights, starting in late April.


A panel of four independent judges - not affiliated with Central Penn Parent - reviewed and scored the nominees to select the finalists and award recipients. The judges included: Dr. David Calcagno, MD, Calcagno and Rossi Vein Treatment Center; Bruce Cohen, Director of Quality Improvement, Community Services Group; Dr. Peter Lund, MD, President, Pennsylvania Medical Society; and Amy Sauertieg, Director of Development, Jewish Family Services of Greater Harrisburg.


Healthcare Heroes is a program of Central Penn Parent magazine, and was presented by Madden Physical Therapy. Media sponsor was WPMT TV FOX43 and major sponsors included Drug Free PA and Holy Spirit Health System. Supporting sponsors included Bayada Nurses, Belmont Dental Associates, Tobacco-Free Coalition, Glatfelter Insurance Group, and Pennsylvania's Preferred Health Networks.
