HONOLULU, HI, January 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Aloha Harvest has been given a gift just in time for the holidays, that will help them to continue delivering quality-donated food to those in need. They have received a grant of $50,000 from The Bill Healy Foundation.
"The Bill Healy Foundation's generous grant will allow us to continue our mission at a time when there is tremendous need in the community, " said Co-Executive Director, Ku'ulei Williams.
"Our review of applications continues to inspire our confidence in the human spirit," said Executive Director of The Bill Healy Foundation, Diane Hall. "We feel fortunate to have this opportunity to participate in making a contribution to our community and support a better quality of life through your important work."
Aloha Harvest's services reach over 130 social service agencies, helping to meet the needs of the hungry, men, women, and children all over O'ahu from Wai'anae to Waimanalo.
"It feels like being Santa Claus all year round," said Aloha Harvest driver Dwayne Corpuz. "The people at the agencies see the Aloha Harvest truck pull up and they get excited to see what kind of food that we will be bringing to them."
After unloading a truck's worth of beverages, which is no small task, driver Kawehe Brown said, "So many people come up to me during the day to say how much they appreciate Aloha Harvest and the food we bring to them. It makes coming to work every day something I really look forward to," he added.
Aloha Harvest, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary, recently met a milestone of five million pounds of food delivered to social service agencies on O'ahu.
