LOS ANGELES, CA, June 19, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/
-- In honor of this year's The Longest Day
, award-winning production company Palm Street Films
is releasing its shocking and heartbreaking short film Fragile Storm for free online to raise awareness about the struggles of Alzheimer's caregivers. The Longest Day is an annual global event sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association on the summer solstice, this year on Wednesday, June 21st.
In Fragile Storm, award-winning filmmaker Dawn Fields tells the story of an isolated couple who struggle to deal with the increasingly violent outbreaks brought on by one spouse's tormented battle with Alzheimer's disease. The short film, which stars legendary Hollywood icon Lance Henriksen
(Aliens, Millennium), has garnered 20 film festival nominations and 18 wins, including the prestigious $10,000 'Rising Star' award at the 2017 Cinegear Expo Film Competition.
"Alzheimer's disease is a challenging journey for both patients and their caregivers, and too often it becomes a lonely and isolating experience," said Fields, who both co-wrote and directed the short film. "I wanted the audience to understand the 'terror' that is often felt on both sides, and the strength and endurance it takes to face the disease. Ultimately we hope that our film demonstrates to patients and caregivers that they are not alone and encourage anyone suffering to seek help."
The entire month of June is National Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness month. On The Longest Day, Wednesday June 21st, people are encouraged to do something they love in memory of and in support of those suffering from Alzheimer's and their caregivers. By watching and sharing Fragile Storm online, people can help raise awareness and open a dialogue about the 15.9 million dementia caregivers across America who face the longest day every day.
