Helen Anderson Shaw celebrates a prominent nutrition career at The University of North Carolina Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC, November 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen Anderson Shaw, Professor Emerita of The University of North Carolina, Greensboro, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in Nutrition Science.

Helen Anderson Shaw has been Professor Emerita of Nutrition at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) since 2000. In retirement she is a watercolor painter, a member of the Yew Tree Gallery in Greensboro, and participates regularly in art exhibitions in North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. She has 12 years experience as a professor of nutrition, department chair, and Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences at UNCG. Prior to joining UNCG, Dr. Shaw served 20 years at the University of Missouri-Columbia as professor of nutrition, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Assistant Director in the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station. She became involved in her profession because she was motivated by her grandfather and two college professors, and she attributes her success to hard work and love for nutritional sciences.

Dr. Shaw received her Ph.D. in Nutritional Science and her Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as her Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics from the University of Kentucky. She has received board certification in Human Nutrition and is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed in the State of North Carolina. In addition, she is a member of the North Carolina Dietetic Association, the American Dietetic Association, the American Society for Nutrition, Sigma Xi, Phi Upsilon Omicron, Kappa Omicron Nu, and the Yew Tree Gallery.
