JACKSONVILLE, FL, March 30, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen Stanley has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than 50 years, Ms. Stanley has been contributing to the world of music as an independent composer, pianist, violinist, violist, conductor and lecturer. While a teenager living in Jacksonville, Florida, she was accepted as a piano and composition student by the internationally known pianist, composer and inventor Hans Barth, who was spending winters in Florida. His patented invention of his portable quarter-tone piano led Helen to an early interest in microtonal music, which then led to electronic music creations resulting in her listing in the book Repertoire International *des Musiques ElectroAcoustiques (*International Electronic Music Catalogue) distributed internationally by M.I.T. (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) 1967.

Ms. Stanley began her career as an instructor of music and fine arts at Jacksonville University in 1962 before taking on the role of instructor of music in communications. Since then, she has also worked as a composer-in-residence and pianist for the Florida Contemporary Ensemble, and as a composer and conductor for St. Paul's By-the-Sea in Jacksonville, Fla.

An award-winning composer, Ms. Stanley has written pieces for a wide variety of instruments, including trombone, piano and voice, as well as compositions for orchestra. In 1972, she received the Composition Commission Award for her work, "Rhapsody for Electronic Tape and Orchestra." Her more recent works include "Locrian Lament," "Prospero Speaks" and "Lydian Legend for Piano." The soloist for the premiere recording of "Concerto Romatico" for viola and orchestra is Karen Dreyfus. The conductor of the U.S. premiere recording of "Farfare for Orchestra" is Nicholas Palmer.

Ms. Stanley maintains involvement with the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and American Composers Forum. In addition, she still frequently lends her expertise as a consultant on various musical works, and has been a consultant for the Beaches Fine Art Series in Neptune Beach, Fla.

Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Stanley has continued to be recognized for her commitment to musical excellence. She was the recipient of the Jacksonville Community Foundation Award, as well an award honoring her outstanding achievements in classical music. Since 1998, she has been featured in more than a dozen honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World. Additionally, she was included in the 1st edition of Who's Who in Entertainment. Ms. Stanley attended Florida State University, where she completed a Master of Music in 1954.
