/24-7PressRelease/ -- Grammy-nominated and multi-Na Hoku Award winning musician Henry Kapono is set to unveil a special Mother's Day song at the 2009 Mother's Day Brunch With the Stars. The event is being held at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort at Ko Olina on Sunday, May 10, 2009. Kapono wrote the song especially for the event and will perform his newest musical rendition with former American Idol Camile Velasco.
The name of the song is "Mommy" and Kapono was inspired to write it "by watching my 2 and-a-half-year-old twins and thinking about how much they love their mother, how much I loved my mother and how important mothers are to who we become."
All families are invited to come celebrate their moms with music, laughter and good food at this special bash presented by Hawaii Pacific Entertainment. The entertainment lineup also includes veteran vocalist Yvonne Elliman, local guitarist John Cruz, and the outrageous comedy of Da Braddahs. Comedian Kaleo Pilanca serves as emcee.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 10th, 2009 at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort at Ko Olina. Doors open at 9 a.m., buffet starts at 9:30 a.m. and the concert follows at 10 a.m.
A scrumptious brunch is being prepared exclusively for Mother's Day, featuring fresh Ihilani field green salad with dressing, succulent grilled chicken teriyaki, fresh island catch, carved roasted kalua pig, seasonal fresh vegetables, fried rice, eggs, Portuguese sausage, crispy bacon, breakfast pastries, delicious desserts, and more.
This year Hawaii Pacific Entertainment has partnered with The Honolulu Advertiser and McDonald's of Hawaii to honor five of Hawaii's MomsLikeMe.com Hall of Famers. The five winning moms will each receive a $100 McDonald's Arch Card; a gift basket of goodies from McDonald's of Hawaii and Hawaii's MomsLikeMe.com; an award plaque from Hawaii's MomsLikeMe.com and The Honolulu Advertiser; will be featured on Hawaii's MomsLikeMe.com and in The Honolulu Advertiser. Plus, winners will be given free admission to the Mother's Day Brunch with the Stars, a bouquet of roses, a serenade and photo opportunities with the stars.
Hawaii Pacific Entertainment is also accepting written letters for the "Top 25 Moms of the Year." In a 500 word essay, entitled "Why I Love My Mom," tell us why your mom should be honored at the 2009 Mother's Day Brunch With the Stars on Sunday, May 10th. The contest is open to all ages. Each "Top 25 Moms of the Year" essay winners will receive one complimentary admission to the event, be recognized with a photo with the Stars and receive a bouquet of flowers. Other great prizes include a manicure, pedicure, make-up and perfume gift certificates valued at $250.00. One winner will walk away with a one-night stay at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina. The deadline to submit essays is Thursday, April 30th.
The top 25 essays will be posted on the Hawaii Pacific Entertainment website and published in the concert's program guide with a photo of mother and family. Please submit all essays to umma@hawaiipacificentertainment.com.
Tickets are available for $85, $75 and children 12-years-old and under are half price. Golden circle tickets are available for $125 per person.
