HGTV Canada's Star Overcame Poverty and Terminal Cancer To Become A Timber King!

HGTV Canada #1 Hit Series Timber Kings Now Showing In Over 150 Countries

"Cancer took seven of the eight people in my experimental drug treatment program, by God's grace I was the only one who survived."

WILLIAMS LAKE, BC, August 23, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bryan Reid, Sr. is the Founder and CEO of Pioneer Log Homes of British Columbia. He is also the Executive Producer and one of the stars of the #1 rated HGTV series Timber Kings and Executive Producer for the #1 rated spin-off series Carver Kings.

Bryan was one of five children raised by a single mother in central British Columbia, Canada. He grew his passion for building log homes into a global company. "As a kid, my step father and I trapped furs for the Hudson Bay Company. We worked the trap line together in temperatures as cold as 50 degrees below zero. There was a log cabin midway between the line, not much larger than a walk-in closet. We'd arrive at the cabin after dark, start the fire and defrost as the wind and snow pounded our tiny fort. I've loved log cabins ever since," stated Mr. Reid.

Mr. Reid founded Pioneer Log Homes of BC in 1973 with a business focus of "profits third", customers and family make up the other two parts of this winning trifecta. While this may seem like a counter intuitive business philosophy, it has successfully carried the company through two major economic recessions and created a loyal customer base. "I travel to trade shows in Arizona and Las Vegas almost every year to meet up with Bryan and his team who built my Pioneer home seven years ago," stated Louis Horschel, a New York based Pioneer customer.

Three years before the hit TV series, Mr Reid was told by his oncologist to "get his things in order", after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. "The doctor had no idea that I was made differently. Poverty was the blessing that hardened me to become oblivious to pain and to the opinions of others. Looking back I realized that I had been preparing for this battle my entire life", stated Mr. Reid. He continued, "Cancer took seven of the eight people in my experimental drug treatment program, by God's grace I was the only one who survived."

In 2013, HGTV Canada took notice of Pioneer's craftsmanship and created a television show around the family run business and the homes they built, the series Timber Kings was born. The series is billed as "Duck Dynasty of the North" and highlights the Pioneer Log Homes of BC commitment to customers, family, faith and hard work. The series draws in over six million loyal viewers weekly from Sweden to New York City and over 150 other countries. They tune in to watch the Pioneer team create log home works-of-art, one recent episodes featured a massive 53,000 square foot custom build near Moscow, Russia. "It's been an amazing life so far, and I believe that the very best is yet to come", offered Mr. Reid.
