HIA-LI Hosts Annual Hauppauge Industrial Park (HIP) Update

    HAUPPAUGE, NY, April 03, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Hauppauge Industrial Park is home to 1,300 companies employing 55,000 people in manufacturing, construction and services industries. It is recognized as one of the largest industrial parks in the nation and a major economic engine and revenue generator for Long Island. Later this month HIA-LI, the recognized voice for business on Long Island, will present a panel discussion on major initiatives impacting the businesses in the Park and present a profile of the Park at what has become a "must attend" event for HIP-area landlords, building owners, business executives and government agencies - the annual Hauppauge Industrial Park Update Executive Breakfast Meeting. The event will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Novak Motors, 1818 Pacific Street, Suite 3, Hauppauge, NY. "Attendees will hear details and discussions about Hauppauge Industrial Park studies and learn the current status of a variety of projects designed to update and upgrade critical infrastructures, including energy, sewers and transportation, that are critical for operating the Park," said Terri Alessi-Miceli, HIA-LI president.

Among the significant initiatives to be detailed are:
- The launch of the HIA-LI Hauppauge Industrial Park Energy Conservation Project - a plan has been developed to determine energy usage in the Hauppauge Industrial Park with an aim of reducing overall consumption by at least 15 percent.
- HIP Growth Plans - panelists will discuss plans to create overlay districts to allow the Park to build up and out.
- Sewer Project - the panel will provide updates on the new 1.65 million gallons-daily treatment plant.
- Transportation - updates will be given about major transportation opportunities and solutions for the Park.

Suffolk County Legislator John Kennedy, Jr. will present opening remarks, followed by a panel of industry and government leaders. Panelists include: Rita Adrion, Regional Manager, 511NY Rideshare; Diane Booth, Pretreatment Coordinator, Suffolk County Dept of Public Works; Frank DeRubeis, Planning & Community Development Director, Town of Smithtown; John Donovan, Chief Engineer, Division of Sanitation, Suffolk County Department of Public Works; Christopher E. Kent, Partner, Farrell Fritz Division of land use, municipal and zoning practice group. The panel will be moderated by Jack Kulka, CEO of Kulka Construction.
