GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO, December 04, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Enhance holiday traditions and make memories that will last a lifetime with a stay at any one of the Historic Hotels of the Rockies. This Christmas and New Year retreat to a world away from the ordinary with a trip to the past, whether that time gone by is the Roaring Twenties, the Victorian Age or the rough and rowdy cowboy heydays. With over 20 member lodges ranging from elegant bed & breakfasts to urban hotels and rustic ranch resorts, Historic Hotels of the Rockies offers guests an opportunity to experience the holidays with an historic twist.

The lodges, scattered throughout, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and South Dakota, each offer their own brand of holiday charms and treats including stay packages, seasonal events, and special menus. Both the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, CO and the Plaza Hotel, in Las Vegas, NM start their seasonal celebrations with much anticipated lighting ceremonies. Festivities include caroling, visits from Santa, edible treats ranging from simple cookies and hot chocolate to indulgent lobster dinners.

Gourmet delights in historic settings abound this holiday season. Other hotels and lodges that pique the appetite with special offerings include Peck House in Empire, CO, The Strater Hotel in Durango, CO, the Historic Elk Mountain Hotel between Rawlins and Laramie, WY, the Historic Plains Hotel in Cheyenne, WY, the Irma Hotel in Cody, WY and the Grand Union Hotel in Fort Benton, Montana.

Lodging specials with all the trimmings begin as low as $219 for two people per room per night at the Hotel Colorado's "Get Away From It All" holiday package which includes a warm winter drink upon arrival, a tour of the historic hotel and breakfast in the Baron's Restaurant.

For $399, couples can stay two nights at the Historic Elk Mountain Hotel and enjoy Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day lunch, high tea Victorian-style and breakfast in the morning.

The Plaza Hotel is predicting a Happy New Year for all. Starting at $229 revelers will enjoy dancing and music in their newly refurbished ballroom. The "Black Tie and Blue Jeans" New Year's Eve Ball will feature dancing, midnight champagne, an evening buffet, and even a fortune teller guaranteed to bring mystery and fun to the event.

In Fort Benton, the Grand Union Hotel's New Year's Eve Gala rustles up good-times Montana-style with their package starting at $290 per couple and includes a five course gourmet dinner, dancing, champagne toast and then breakfast on New Year's Day.

Finally, laugh in the New Year, in Cheyenne, Wyoming's Historic Plains Hotel. Enjoy two tickets to their Comedy Club show, a night's stay and champagne brunch for two, all for only $189.
