Historic Tales of Northwest Orange County Signing at Museum of the Apopkans

    ORLANDO, FL, March 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Perrine Slim has been studying and writing about northwest Orange County his entire adult life and his stories have been published in a local paper since the spring of 2009. The native Apopkan will be discussing the history of the area and signing copies of his first book March 11th at 1 pm in the afternoon at the Museum of the Apopkans.

The book, The Pennings of Perrine Slim: Stories of Northwest Orange County Florida, is a tome of 474 pages and includes over 100 images. The images range from Wild Cat, the Chief who lead area Indians in the Second Seminole War, to pictures of the recent landscaping of a monument honoring Slim's uncle and former local community leader, Michael Gladden, Jr.

Octogenarian Slim wishes for the proceeds of the book to go to the Apopka Historical Society so that the group can maintain and expand the collections housed at the Museum of the Apopkans. The book is available at the museum, 122 E 5th Street, Apopka, FL 32703, from members, and online at Facebook.com/MuseumoftheApopkans and ApopkaMuseum.org. There are plans for Perrine Slim's 2012-2015 writings to be made available in book form with additional images. The museum is open weekly from noon until 5 Tuesday through Friday, including the day of the signing.
