- Houston, TX, June 21, 2008 - Hollywood South Entertainment will propel into 2008 with the launch of its film production company and music label. With a central office in Los Angeles, Hollywood South opens up its new headquarters in the heart of the South; Houston, Texas providing a myriad of services as model for the film and music industry.
Jamie McCoy McDuffie, CEO of Hollywood South Entertainment states, "As a huge fan of the South and its powerful movement in entertainment, I thought it would be advantageous to set up a multi-faceted entertainment hub in the center of this movement Houston." Ms. McCoy now joins an elite and few list of women that solely own an entertainment house that facilitates both music and film projects. Her introduction into the industry was through Real Life Entertainment Management Company that worked with several award winning acts such as Pastor Troy, Big V of Nappy Roots, IDEAL and more.
The Music Division distributed through a major recording label, roster includes I Kandie, a female duo reminiscent of the sounds of Floetry-intermingling R&B and Hip Hop, Chaarli East, a classically trained Hip Hop violinist and singer who's worked with heavy hitters Wyclef John for VH1 Soul and Lovely, a R&B soloist. I Kandie will release its debut singles "Never Satisfied" and "Crush" the beginning of July with a debut album slated for a December 2008 release. They're currently in the studio working with Multi-Platinum, Super-Producer 'Sean Blaze' (Chamillionaire and 50 Cent).
Their Film Division will start production on a biopic of The DeBarge Family which will chronicle their successes of reviving Motown Records in the 1980's to becoming one of the most sampled groups of some of the hottest Hip Hop songs of 90's and 2000's. The DeBarge Family biopic will be released in 2009. Hollywood South's lineup will also include the story of the life of Tony Award nominated, international soul singer, model and actress Phyllis Hyman, scheduled to start filming in 2008 and released late 2009. Other projects will include a reality show concept and a suspense thriller.
