/24-7PressRelease/ - KENILWORTH, UK, March 05, 2008 - At a recent meeting of the Glan Yr Afon Inn Historical Society the decison was taken to theme the pubs rooms to certain famous local individuals.
Proposals were put foward as to who these individuals might be and a list was compiled.
Some of the people were past owners of The Glan Yr Afon Inn or of the land on which it stands.
The Glan's owners are seeking pictures of the individuals and related family and places and information about thier lives and deeds.
The following are the current list proposed:
a. Thomas Williams - The Copper King ( d1802 ) - who was responsible for the production of copper bolts and sheets.
b. Thomas Pennant - Historian,Botanist,Walker ( 1726 - 1798 )
c. The 4th Duke of Westminster, Gerald ( 1907-1967 ?)
d. Thomas Jones of Pentre Halkyn b1658 d 1704 ??
e. Sarah Edith Wynne - The Welsh Nightingale/Soprano ( 1842 - 1897 )
f. David Lloyd of Glan Yr Afon
g. The Bryan Family ( Past tenants and leaseholders of The Glan )
h. John Lloyd Price - Owner of St Winefrides Brewery and The Glan.
i. Lady Emma Hamilton - Nelson's lady - born at Neston across The Dee.
The Glan's Historical Society consists of members of various local historical society's all of whom felt that there was a need to raise the profile of Holywell and to remind people of the important cultural heritage of the area.
