Using a proprietary process — without the use of a template or stencil — licensed STARSCAPES Artist-Illusionists place a permanent, customized, three-dimensional mural of the nighttime sky on a home or hotel room's ceiling. Walls are optional. It features more than 2,000 twinkling stars, including accurate depictions of constellations, the Milky Way Galaxy and shooting stars. Customers can choose different themes, such as fairies, angels, and spaceships, as well as several deep sky objects like the Whirlpool galaxy (M51), Globular Star Cluster (M13), Beehive Star Cluster, Andromeda Galaxy, and various nebulas.
The entire process is usually completed in less than two hours. The specially formulated, non-toxic paint will glow all night long and is guaranteed to last at least 20 years. According to Petrashek, the paint — due to its professional-grade phosphorescent rare earth pigments — glows at least 10 times brighter and longer than most paints sold at retail stores.
