/24-7PressRelease/ -- IcePics (www.icepics.com) is the first personal security application for iPhoneTM that allows users to quickly snap and instantly e-mail a photograph with the touch of one button in a potentially threatening situation. Through IcePics, the photo and GPS location are automatically e-mailed to contacts pre-selected by the user. Designed to help users stay alert and potentially prevent crime, IcePics is now available through the iTunes store.
"We are excited to release the IcePics app because it can actually help prevent a crime before it happens, as opposed to programs that are activated after a child is abducted or reported missing," said Jeff Neumeyer, developer of IcePics. "A person with ill-intent is far more likely to abandon their plans once they know a photo with incriminating evidence has been sent."
After downloading, users simply enter email addresses of as many contacts as they wish. Once a photograph is taken with IcePics, an email including the picture and longitude/latitude coordinates is immediately sent to those contacts stating that they may want to contact the sender, depending on the nature of the photograph. IcePics will also include a link to a Google Map of where the photo was taken.
Additionally, IcePics gives users the ability to take "silent" photos, without the sound of the camera click. If a suspicious person is causing a user to feel uncomfortable, they can take a picture of the person without alerting them by simply touching the IcePics icon button. If a crime were to occur, users could hold valuable evidence that could help provide justice even if the phone was destroyed shortly after the photograph was taken.
"IcePics users are encouraged to be alert and aware of their surroundings, using the application in any threatening situation," Neumeyer said. "The app makes it easy to snap a quick image, lessening the chance of the situation escalating, or notifying your contacts immediately of your whereabouts if it does."
Aside from thwarting off attackers, IcePics can be used for quickly taking a photograph of a suspicious person, license plate number, vehicle or simply a picture of the surrounding area. The GPS capabilities also help ensure users stay in contact when they become lost in an unfamiliar area and can't verbalize a location.
IcePics is currently available on iTunes in the "Healthcare & Fitness" category for $2.99. To download the IcePics, click here: Purchase and Download. To learn more about IcePics, please visit http://www.icepics.com.
