Indiana Civil Litigation Firm Offers Two Scholarship Opportunities for 2017

McNeely Stephenson is excited to announce the awarding of two $500 scholarships to college-bound high school seniors or current college students. One highlights community involvement while the other focuses on personal goals.

We think these scholarships emphasize two very important qualities that can be essential to success in higher education - and in life.

LOUISVILLE, KY, January 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- McNeely Stephenson, a prominent Indiana law firm that also practices in Kentucky, declared today that it would be awarding two scholarships worth $500 each in August. Both opportunities involve writing an essay of 500 to 1,000 words, which will be judged on creativity, originality, and ability to convey a complex message.

"We first offered scholarships last year," comments Managing Partner Larry Church, "and we received such an outpouring of worthy entries that we knew immediately we wanted to do something similar in the future. We think these scholarships emphasize two very important qualities that can be essential to success in higher education - and in life. Having goals and giving back are both admirable traits that deserve to be recognized."

The basic guidelines for the scholarships are the same. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the United States and must be either a high school senior who has been accepted to a four-year college institution or a student currently enrolled in a four-year college.

Other than the four-year requirement, there are no constraints as to the college they will attend or are presently attending. Candidates have to fill out an application on the law firm's website and upload an essay of the proper length in a word or PDF document, a copy of their college acceptance letter or proof of current attendance, and a copy of their official transcript for their most recently completed semester of school.

The scholarships are restricted to high school seniors who attend school in Jefferson County, Kentucky, or Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Washington, Scott, or Jefferson County, Indiana. College students who apply must reside in one of those counties when not in school. Church explains, "There is a lot of need out there, so for these opportunities, we choose to limit entries to those students who live in the communities we serve."

Applications for the personal goals scholarship can be submitted online at McNeely Stephenson, with an essay addressing where they see themselves in ten years and how the scholarship is necessary for them to reach their goals. Applications for the community involvement scholarship can be submitted online at McNeely Stephenson, with an essay detailing when they became passionate about volunteering in their community and what they have done throughout their academic career to further the cause(s) for which they have donated their time.

All documents must be received by May 1, 2017. The two successful candidates will be notified by June 15, 2017, and a $500 check will be mailed to their respective colleges by August 1, 2017, to help defray tuition costs and other expenses.
