/24-7PressRelease/ -- JS Design Concepts has teamed up with Indianapolis teens to create, "Design Your Future", a program that introduces students to the fields of Graphic and Industrial Design. This is an effort to stimulate the current graduation rate in Indianapolis, and provide students with professional mentors in creative fields.
James A. Spaulding Sr., President of JS Design Concepts, hopes that by introducing these talented students to creative industries early it will accomplish two things. One, they will see the "real-world" practicality of classes offered to them, and show more interest. Two, they will get a jump on their counterparts and begin developing creative skill sets early on.
Students participating will have the opportunity to create a portfolio, a basic requirement for art schools, and also work alongside professionals on current projects at JS Design Concepts. "Once a student experiences seeing a finished product hit the shelves or graphics published that they had their hand in, it will light a spark that will carry them a long way." Mr. Spaulding stated.
Already the current Chair holder of the Indiana Chapter of IDSA, a society dedicated to design on the collegian and professional levels; Mr. Spaulding wants to take design excellence even further. He states, "We have to get our students ready for college before we can focus on making them excellent designers. I wish I knew about the field of industrial design before I got to college so I could have applied my talents properly, Design Your Future will do just that for our teens here in Indy."
