Indo-British Geriatrics Council to achieve goals for a dignified and healthy old age- Geriatrics-2013 at Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore

    HENDERSON, NV, October 02, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leading geriatricians, multidisciplinary team of investigators in geriatrics and members of diplomatic corporations gathered in Bangalore, India to highlight the fundamentals regarding the course of age related diseases and the treatment. The discussion took place at the World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics", 2nd International Conference on HEALTHY AGEING IN THE CHANGING WORLD 2013" September 30, 2013-October1, 2013 in J.N. Tata Auditorium, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore jointly organized by BioGenesis - The Euro-Indian Health Cluster (UK), Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) Hyderabad, India, and OMICS Group International.

Co-hosted by OMICS Group International, the Congress on Gerontology and Geriatrics welcomed leading healthcare specialists including geriatricians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dieticians, and more, from across various continents. The Congress was one of the few international events focused on identifying areas of highest research priority, and research approaches to improve clinical care for older adults. The conference provided a forum for doctors and people related to medical field to brainstorm on various facets of old age related disease.

On the occasion, Ian Felton, British Deputy High Commissioner, Bengaluru unveiled a plaque to symbolize the coming together of two large nations with a mission to provide quality life and improve the well being of elderly in view of a significant shift in global demographics. The Indo-British Geriatrics Council is expected to integrate the knowledge of specialists and geriatricians regarding aging-associated diseases and treatment and is aimed at fostering exchange between the UK and India to facilitate trade and investment encouraging Indian companies to work with and in the UK, and highlighting UK capabilities to Indian companies, with the current and projected growth of older people over the coming decades to have significant health, economic and policy implications globally.

Among the more than 500 participants at this Congress were representatives from Europe, Asia and the United States. Also in attendance were leading education and geriatric experts from more than 150 Regional Centers of Expertise forming a forum for a multidisciplinary team of investigators in geriatrics to identify areas of highest research priority, and develop research approaches to improve clinical care for older adults.
