As a medical laboratory scientist for Carilion Labs Inc., Mrs. Wood's expertise is in chemistry. She is responsible for managing instrumentation, processing specimens, performing chemistry, hematology and urine/body fluid analysis, conducts special testing as well as blood banking and microbiology. Carilion Labs Inc. provides scientific research including blood testing, urinalysis, semen analysis, bacterial culture research and the distribution of blood products. Mrs. Wood has always been interested in science, and a teacher at Radford University steered her into the field. She attributes her success to her hard work, determination and passion for her profession.

Mrs. Wood received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Radford University in 2007. She has also completed power processor training at Beckman Coulter and is a certified medical technologist with the American Society for Clinical Pathology. In her spare time, she likes to travel and is an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society. In the future, she aspires to become a lead technician at the facility and assume more managerial responsibilities. She also intends to partake in advanced DxC training at Beckman Coulter.
