INFESTATION Coming to the Okanagan & Beyond

This May, the Okanagan Valley (and beyond) will be flooded by an infestation like no other.

"Working on this project was fun but sometimes emotionally dangerous, reminding me of this evil woman that wrecked my life and almost wrecked me, too."

KELOWNA, BC, April 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This May, the Okanagan Valley (and beyond) will be flooded by an infestation like no other. May 1st is the release of a rock song by Jesse Giles, with lyrics by West Kelowna author Cheryl Kaye Tardif, and May 11th is the release of a horror novella, also by Tardif. Both projects are titled INFESTATION.

"The novella deals with an infestation of house pests, and it's inspired by true events," Tardif says. "While writing this story, I was inspired to jot down the words to what became the song. It took me ten minutes to write. At first, I thought it would be a poem in the end of the book, until I started 'hearing' a melody in my mind and realized it was much more."

But there was one problem--Tardif isn't a recording artist. So she contacted an American singer/songwriter/music-producer friend who has a few albums and singles out. What happened next was a blur of excitement, and not something that generally happens to an author.

Giles, a folk/rock /blues singer, collaborated with Tardif, and within a couple of months, the duo created a song that is sure to rock the US, Canada and beyond. Giles composed the music and produced the song, while Tardif contributed background vocals, as well as the lyrics.

"Composing and recording INFESTATION, based on Cheryl's intriguing lyrics, brought me back to my rock-and-roll days, making me want to call some musicians and organize a tour," Giles states. "However, working on this project was fun but sometimes emotionally dangerous, reminding me of this evil woman that wrecked my life and almost wrecked me, too."

One of Kelowna's most popular radio stations, Power 104, has already shown an interest in the song, and Tardif hopes they play it this May. Meanwhile, Giles is working on gaining interest from internet radio stations and the film industry.

"This is the biggest mix I've ever mastered," Giles adds. "And by far the most fun I've ever had working on a musical composition." Jesse Giles (Christiansen) is also an author, with a trilogy published by Tardif's company, Imajin Books.

As for Tardif, she's elated, even though her plan to hire a small plane to fly over the Okanagan with a banner that read, "INFESTATION coming to the Okanagan" did not pan out. "This is such a dream come true for me. I'm a huge music lover, and I performed in front of an audience when I was a teen. Seeing my words come to life in a song is thrilling. Being able to provide background vocals is the 'whipped cream.' Having the song published for public listening--well, that's the cherry on top of my dream."

INFESTATION, the single, is available for purchase on Amazon.com, CD Baby, Google Play & more. With a special release price of only $0.99 US, this is a huge bargain for a song that is sure to "infest" your mind.

Tardif and Giles will be celebrating the release of this song at an online Facebook event on May 11th, between 7-9 PM EDT. Everyone is welcome! The event can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/events/258235784519299
